| Pastor Kerry Duerr Pastor Kerry Duerr
was born and raised in Santa Ana. All the years he was
growing up, his father was the pastor at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Santa Ana. It was in that church that he met
and married his wife Cathy. Cathy was raised in the
Dayton Ohio area. She received a degree in dress design
after her graduation from High School. Her family then
moved to Orange, CA where she started a business as
a dress designer. They have been blessed with two children:
Timothy, born in 1981 and Sarah, born in 1985. Both
of them were born in the month of October. Over the
years they continually feel the blessings of God and
give him thanks for his loving kindness.
Pastor Duerr came to Prince of Peace September 1995.
He has had many years of service as a pastor at churches
in Minnesota and in Oceanside, California. He sees his
role as the pastor as that of being a servant to God’s
people and caring for the children of Christ. He seeks
to follow the words Jesus spoken to his disciples: “If
any of you wants to be great, let him be the servant
of all.” And the life of Jesus described by St.
Paul: “That we all should have the same attitude
as Jesus Christ. Even though he was God, he emptied
himself and took the form of a servant. And then, He
humbled himself further by sacrificing himself to die
on the cross.”
Pastor Duerr believes that the work of the pastor is
to care for God’s people in their hurts and needs
and to celebrate with them their joys and hope. And,
most of all, it is to share God’s good news of
his love in Jesus Christ our Savior.

Pastor Duerr – Welcome ***
I have never lost the vision of being a visitor at
a new or different church. How do we, at Prince of Peace,
present ourselves to those who are new, seeking, or
in need? It is that gift that has helped us at Prince
of Peace to see our purpose as reaching out to those
who are new in the area or may feel out of place in
an unfamiliar church. God’s intensions for any
of his Christian congregations is clear, they are to
be Lifesaving Stations where the life-giving message
of God’s love in our Savior Jesus Christ is always
the focus. A congregation is a hospital for people who
have needs; it is not some resort for people who feel
they are better than the rest.
Prince of Peace is a vital Bible-believing community
of Christians. We are committed to the members and families
of our school and we strive to assist parents teach
to their children about Jesus, our Savior and to learn
Christian values. This is our goal in the operation
our Christian Preschool and 1st through 8th grade school
programs. We want everyone to feel welcome and to be
comfortable worshiping their Creator with us.
